Hi everyone - here's a tough one for you!
Approximately 10-20 years ago I read a book that was set in Holland. If memory serves it concerned a house, a method for creating pictures (and thereby etchings/prints) - the house was next to a canal and there was another house on the other side of the canal where an old person lived (I think an old lady). There was some sort of chase at the end and (maybe) an explosion. Think the main character was female. Sorry the info is so threadbare but it was a long time ago. Thanks in anticipation.

Sounds like The Apothecary's House by Adrian Matthews but that's only a few years old.
